On Dec 13th, just over 200 Loreto on the Green alumnae, former staff, volunteers, supporters of the Teresa Ball Access Programme, along with parents and friends of the school gathered for some festive cheer, mince pies and mulled wine. Guests were welcomed to a beautifully decorated assembly hall, thanks to Tara Fay (class of 1987) and founder of Tara Fay Events. The school’s current principal, Ms. Dempsey began proceedings by extending a warm welcome to all guests before Verdi 53 (past pupils choir) led by Ms. Iníon Caoimhe Ní Áinle (class of 1997) treated attendees to a memorable and unique first half performance.
Sinéad Price (Head of Development) spoke about the difference the Teresa Ball Access Programme (TBAP) makes in the lives of young girls who are offered a place on the access programme in Loreto College, St Stephen’s Green, and the need for both donations and corporate sponsorship to strengthen and expand the programme. Sinéad also thanked those who contribute to the TBAP annually and those who have given their time, skills and funds to support the school’s strategic development programme over the past year.
Verdi 53 then took to the stage again and treated all in attendance to a number of beautiful Christmas classics accompanied by Kate (5th year student) on Cello and Fionnuala Ní Áinle (class of 1994) on Violin before welcoming Clodagh McLoughlin (Chair of the GPPA, Verdi 53 member and class of 1997) to thank all in attendance and invite guests for mince pies and mulled wine in the school’s recently refurbished canteen. Special thanks to Lisa McDonnell (class of 1982) for compiling and printing the beautiful choir books for all choir members.
